How the encryption works

Three steps, and your mail is only ever readable by you.

No cryptography degree required. Here's the whole idea in plain language.

Locked on your device

Before a message is sent, your device encrypts it with a key only you possess. It leaves your laptop or phone already sealed.

Stored as ciphertext

On our servers your mail is just scrambled data. There's no plaintext to scan, leak, hand over, or feed to a model.

Opened only by you

When you sign in, the message is decrypted locally with your key. The lock and the key never live in the same place but your hands.
